Hey guys! I've always been recycling, but now I've been recycling even more. It pains me to see people throw away recyclable things such as office paper, water bottles, and recyclable plastic containers. Now, to get people to be motivated about recycling, there's a program called Recyclebank that's offering rewards for people who recycle. So, there you go, motivation!

Also, here are a few good ideas to use less stuff. Not all of these may work for you, but try out some of them!

Use both sides of notebook paper
Type instead of write
Upcycle used items. More info later in this post!
Instead of throwing away used stuff that's no longer needed, find people to give them to or to trade with. For example, if I have a stack of books that I no longer need, I may give them to a friend, have a garage sale, donate them, or exchange them with a friend.

A special note on upcycling. Have you heard of it? It's a revolutionary new way to stop wastefulness and save your money. I've been upcycling for some time now. Here's how you do it: if you have something used that there's not option but to throw away, say, a t-shirt with a hole or one of those toilet paper rolls, have no fear! You can, with a pair of scissors and maybe needle and thread, refashion that t-shirt into something snazzy and cool! As for those toilet paper rolls, you can refashion those by making them into pencil holders. (see near end of post) Mookychick.co.uk has some useful guides on upcycling old CDs, DVDs, and games as well as old toilet rolls and old t-shirts. The book Generation T by Megan Nicolay is also good. In fact, here's a whole list of books on upcycling on Amazon.

OK, a wrap up how-to! (I might write an article about this later with pictures if I can get them) To make toilet roll pencil holders, you will need 3 toilet paper rolls, glue (super glue is AWESOME), and a pair of scissors. Take the first toilet paper roll and cut off a circle with a slightly larger diameter than the regular roll. Then, take a second roll and cut off a few centimeters off the end. You can cut it into a pattern if you want. Put the uncut third roll in the second roll, so that you can see layers. Then, using glue, attach the circle you cut off from the beginning to make the base. Wait for it to dry, and you're done! You might want to color or decorate it (to make it not so obvious what it's made from XD).

Thanks for reading! RECYCLE!!

Lately I have been obsessed with music. Metal, in particular...Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, Bullet For My Valentine, and Atreyu are awesome~~ Though they are kind of mainstream nowadays. (I used to listen to them back in spring 2009 or so) The average teenager spends about 4 hours listening to music every day, but I probably spend 6... I have hearing loss, so I have to be careful about this!
Today I listened to some "regular" music, and I just realized how used I am to metal music. I mean, if it's shorter than 5 minutes, it feels like it's too short. XD I can't believe I used to listen to music that's less than 3 minutes long per song.
So yes, I am obsessed with metal. It frustrates me that my library doesn't have Avenged Sevenfold's Waking the Fallen album. They have really good songs! (Though they did have their other albums...)
Enough rambling about music.
Back to reading manga erm, I mean work! ^^

Hey guys,
I planned to update as my sister is in the hospital right now. Turns out that because the hospital wireless
connection is not secure, I can't get into FTP to update Wacky O. Also, the network blocked out my online cloud
word processor and some other online applications I normally use. DX In the end, I can't do much anyway...
So, here I am, making the best of the situation... Oh well...
I do have some ideas for updates though!

Hey guys or whoever still visits...
I just finished NaNoWriMo on November. Nowadays my schedule is crowded. Still, isn't it the same for everyone??
Did I tell you that I had foot surgery on October? It's nothing serious. Now I can walk and am almost back to normal (I still can't ice skate though..)

All the free time I have aside from working on my other projects I plan to use for Wacky O. I WON'T LET WACKY ONION DIE!!

Anyway, I borrowed a LOT of PHP/Javascript manuals from the library. All the librarians probably hate me now. XD Realistically, however, I don't think I can get THAT much done in such a short time. Hopefully I can get something done, though.

I wrote a few articles, and I may put them up some time...
Anyway, see you later, I suppose.

Facebook Good For Teens?

Hi guys. I said I won't blog that much, but I felt I had to write about Larry Rosen's research. He is a social media researcher at California State University, and he did a study about Facebook and teenagers today. I'll be quoting two websites about his research. Quotes in bold.

"Shy kids now have an easier experience developing relationships, by speaking via a computer keyboard instead of in person."[1]

In theory. What will happen in real life is the shy person who will stick only to Facebook. He or she will prefer Facebook over real life interaction. Trust me, I am a somewhat shy kid.

"...Rosen fears at times online social networking can detract from a teen's learning and grades. Rosen has suggested teaching kids to take two-minute "tech breaks" in order to check [Facebook] after 15 minutes of studying. Rosen feels this can help kids focus for longer and not result in social networking having negative effects on their school work."[1]

Remember when we were doing that painful research report on the computer? Remember how we thought we'd "just check Facebook for a few minutes" and end up spending more time on FB than in actual research? Teaching kids to take "tech breaks" won't solve this problem. How can you focus for longer when you can't wait for that tech break?

"Rosen also feels social networks can teach teens empathy. This digital empathy can roll over into the real world."[1]
How about learning empathy in the real world and transferring that to the digital world?

"Rosen has found associations between social network use and various mental issues, including traits like narcissism, a lack of empathy, increased aggression and traits associated with mental illnesses like schizophrenia and depression." [2]
Wait a minute...lack of empathy? I thought it was supposed to teach teens empathy!

All in all, I think the costs outweight the benefits. That is why I don't use Facebook anymore.

Hi guys!
I've put up my first map review. Ever. I'm going to go by alphabetical order, because I'm OCD like that. XD Here's the link.
Heroes 3 is awesome!

In the next few weeks I may write some articles, so check back regularly. However, on July, I'll be going Internet-free, so don't expect updates.

Hi reader(s)!
Starting a few days ago, I've revamped some content on Wacky Onion here and there. You probably haven't noticed, since the most I've done is delete a few outdated pages and fix typos and grammatical errors. You can expect more to come; I may also make a new website layout.

A new idea I came up with a few days ago is Heroes of Might and Magic III map reviews. Since I play a lot of this game, and since I have way too many maps, both fans and I can benefit from this. So far I've written two reviews, but I have to figure out a structured format to put up the content.

I'm glad to be back, and I'm looking forward to updating more in the future!

Heyo no-one! I'm back! -crickets chirp- Anyway, real life is busy again. Audition, school, SAT prep, swimming, you name it. What's great is that now I'm gradually getting less busy. Hopefully this summer I can update again! (Wait...Every summer I update a lot, but during the school year I don't...Does this make WO a summer website?)

Over the weeks I shall hopefully update. I might change my file's residence some time in the future... Anyway, it's good to pop in after 5 months!

Over the weeks I shall hopefully update. I might change my file’s residence some time in the future… Anyway, it’s good to pop in after 5 months!

I'm making a website layout. You can preview it here. It's a typical one-column layout with header, content holder, and footer-all without those icky tables!

I pulled out a note from when I was nine about Neopets. It was quite innocent. ^^
"How to get rich and famous in Neopets:

1. Learn HTML
2. When 13, use HTML skills to make layouts for people for codestones
3. Earn lots of NP
4. Make a guild
5. Have lots of Neofriends"

Ever since my account got frozen/hacked/insert verb here, I haven't been thinking about Neo so much. I mean, I still have my original 4 year old account, but it's just not the same. No painted pets, no lab map, no 7 site themes, no 700K NP. I'm glad that my account got frozen//hacked/insert verb here. At least having my account disabled means that I was forced to quit and spend more time in real life. (after getting addicted to MMOs, of course XD)

Things in my real life right now:
1. I'm in a new orchestra
2. I'm going to Japan and Korea next June! :D (With my new orchestra)
3. I have an (old) orchestra concert coming up this Tuesday
4. December the 19th will be a hectic day for me (new orchestra performance for 2 out of town morning church services and 30 minutes of violin playing plus a duet in the evening)
5. I have a mini performance on the 9th

So my December will be very hectic. Good luck, me!

Just the weekly update. My NaNo is going great; I really procrastinated on it.
Otherwise nothing much to say. My week has been busy but uneventful.
Is this a contradiction? Not necessarily. You can be busy but you can also feel
bored by the things you're doing.

That's it I suppose.

I might have to put Wacky O on hiatus. It's funny, though; I used to put Crazed Graphics (my old website) on hiatus at this time of year (though I did close it a few months after) and Wacky Onion last year on hiatus at this time. Maybe because this is the time my schedule is heating up. Other site owners, is this the same for you, too? Or is it just me?

NaNoWriMo sucks this year. Since I am busier than last year (Last year I didn't have Adventurers and orchestra) I got less words down. Namely, about 20K less words. -.-I don't think I'll make it, but I'll try anyway.

I didn't finish any books either other than The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis for the second time ever this month. I might give this book to my dad for Christmas this year, since it's so awesome. Speaking of Christmas, is any of you doing your shopping yet? One of my friends is a Buddhist, so she won't celebrate Christmas this year. (I save moneh too! XD Cheap me.) I got Onion her birthday present early last Sunday. As for the rest of the people I have to give presents to, I have a general idea what I'm going to get them. Though I didn't actually buy them yet...

1. Are you celebrating Christmas this year?
2. If so, how soon do you usually start Christmas shopping?

On a last note, affiliates, if you took me off because of my inactiveness, I'm sorry. u_u To all others, thanks for putting up with me. ^_^

Hi guys! Weekly update here! Finally I've churned out a new article. It's about the pros and cons of androgyny. Now I'm not that extreme about androgyny to say that it's a third gender or whatever, it's is pretty awesome being androgynous. (Personal experience, mwahahaha!)

A new rant about the new layout! I'm thinking about making an image-centered layout for a change. Perhaps with something I drew/will draw? I might even scan the drawing in my computer and color/enhance/adapt it for the layout! The problem is with the theme. I don't know what theme I'm going to make. (Maybe a rotating banner with a mini-comic I drew?) The color scheme is a sure thing, though: yellow! It's been too long since I made a yellow site layout and I'm itching to make one. But judging from the pace of my real life, it might take a while. (College shopping, Chemistry experiments, Japanese drills, oh my!)

Literature I'm reading the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams. I've just finished Life, the Universe, and Everything and am reading So Long and Thanks For All the Fish. It's pretty awesome. I suggest you read it, so that you'll understand what people are talking about when they mention "forty-two" and laugh.

Since I don't update Wacky O much, I might make it up with a new layout. Deal? ^^

I took the PSAT this morning! It was me waking up in the middle of the night and worrying at 4 AM, rise and shine at 6:45, and testing at 8:20. (Actually, it was supposed to start at 8, but it was quite chaotic.) At first I was nervous, but after a while it wore off. After the test, I felt mini-post-recital bliss. :D Next year I won't mind taking it again.

I just finished The Obama Diaries by Laura Ingraham (about 10 minutes ago! XD) I realize it was a political book, and my review would probably be controversial, but you still can access it at teeshirts in Goodreads. It was quite funny and fun to read. Now I'm reading The Restaurant At the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams which is the second of five books in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. No wonder it's so popular!

This concludes my weekly update. Boy, I'm so busy now that I can only update on Saturdays! :D/D:

Hi guys! I was thinking, since now I do some (crummy) comics, I might put them up on Wacky O as soon as I get enough. What do you think?

I'm taking the PSAT on the 16th...Wish me luck? It's the first time I'm taking it, and I plan to do it again next year. I guess this is the trial run. ^^ Depending on the results, maybe I'll let you guys know them.

Raspberry picking! Yesterday I picked raspberries with my mom and Onion. It was fun, even if we weren't the best at picking them. We each picked a quart, and they tasted awesome~~~ :D Maybe I'll go again sometime.

I haven't posted in about a week. So, if I look at the recent trends of my Wacky O updates, it's sort of weekly. Then I figured that, due to my schedule, I will update weekly. No articles or anything today-sorry! I might post a checklist or some small thing later, though.

Yearly Site-Closing Epidemic!
Remember last year at Wacky O? I did a revamp. (Instead it was an excuse to be inactive) Today I was looking at IC's topsites and I was 0-o because I rose all the way to no. 40! I think this is because of all the "Sorry, real life" and "Revamp!" and "Closed; Real life" things we all see every year. Fortunately, Wacky O is here to stay. :)

Real Life
One word: STRESS. I still need to find time to relax. Other than what I told you guys previously, nothing really interesting happened except for a few personal matters.

Literature
As always, here is a link to my Goodreads account. I just finished All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque. It's for school, but this book is really good! (Read the full short review on my GR account ^^)

Affiliate Check
Anna - Pass, but please update more.
Ashley - Pass with flying colors
Ian - Pass
Rachel - Pass
Zoe - Can't access your site for about a few weeks now; I'll take down your link ASAP (which is not possible now; D:)

Thus ends this post.

Anyway, on to updates. I'm in the Christmas musical in my church! Since the past few times my church started late, they figured that we should start early and do some extra preparation. I'm also playing the violin in two songs. This is gonna be great! XD

Literary update: I finished Evil Under the Sun by Agatha Christie. It's good, but not as good as Murder in (on?) the Orient Express. Find my review on Goodreads. (teeshirts)
